Great warm-up routine. Nice and dynamic, just what we need to get us ready to run on these cold days.

Hello im a beginner to all this. but i thought we had to stretch first before cardio warm up
    can someone please help me
im doing weights and rowing at different times but eventually i would like to do both in one session. should i warm up with cardio before i stretch?

Hi Aaliyah – thanks for your question.

Nothing wrong with stretching before your cardio but because your warm up is graduated i.e. goes from very easy to more challenging, it’s not essential. Chances are you have been moving about before doing your normal daily activites before you start exercising so extra stretching is not really necessary. It’s not like you warm up before getting out of bed! If your muscles feel stiff, some extra stretching may be useful but otherwise, increase your cardio intensity gradually and stretch when you are warm.

Generally, warming up with some cardio before stretching is a good idea as it gets the blood pumping and muscles stretch more easily when warm but if you cant fit some cardio in – e.g. you are stretching at home – just ease into your stretches very gradually and start with easier stretches first. Yoga practitioners do this.

Unfortunately, Sonia decided to pull out of the competition (for reasons that we can’t disclose) despite making very good progress – this explains why ‘it has gone quiet on this’. Audrey was very impressed with her progress and tried to encourage Sonia to continue, but it was not to be.
